Grassmayr bell foundry

Most German-speaking visitors are familiar with the famous verse in Friedrich Schiller's "Lied von der Glocke" (Song of the Bell), where he describes the production of a bell in great detail. The Grassmayr family in Tyrol can today look back on a 400 year tradition of bell-casting. Today, bells are cast by the 14th generation of Grassmayrs. The family is happy to share its expertise in this unique craft with interested visitors to its bell museum in Innsbruck – a must-see in 2005, the bicentenary of Schiller’s death.
